You will probably recognize this cutie from my post on baby week…I’d been looking forward to meeting her and she is a cutie.  She was a little tired, but we managed to get a few smiles out of her.

Wow.  This was fun!  For the second week of the class I’ve been taking it was all about kids…so I had a 3 year old, a bunch of 6 year olds, a couple 8 year olds, and a 4 year old all thrown into the mix.  Of course, it happened to be a week of crazy-busy-ness as well, so I decided to try to shoot as much as I could all in one day.  So everyone but the 8 year olds came for a photoshoot one afternoon last week and then the 8 year olds came a couple days later.  These kids all know each other and have been friends for a while, so they were all very comfortable around each other.  The only exception was my 3 year old friend.  I think she was a little overwhelmed by all the bigger kids.  I did manage to get a few cute photos of her as well, though.  Enough chatting from me…how about some photos?

Thanks to my friends who brought their kidlets by for photos!  I hope it was as fun for you all as it was for me!

I’ve been taking a class about Babies, Toddlers and Kids…specifically, how to draw their attention to the lens of the camera, keep them engaged and get natural smiles and expressions.  It’s just a two week class, so the homework has been pretty intensive.  Last week was all about babies, so I lined up shoots with 3 different babies and tried the techniques discussed in the class.  These are my homework submissions for last week.

If I had a bucket list, I would add “take headshot of author” and then cross it off.  A week ago, I received a phone call from…shoot!  I make it a point not to use names on my blog.  So I will link you to Amazon…click here .  He needed a headshot to send to his publisher as soon as possible.  We talked about possible locations and narrowed it quickly down to two.  I called a neighbor the next day and asked to use her front room since she has some really great bookshelves and a large window.  Within a half-hour of starting, we had several good choices for his headshot.  They were quick to edit, and he had a photo for his publisher that same day.  It was awesome.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that they use one of the photos for the bio in his book.  That would be really really cool.  Bucket list worthy…for sure!  What’s that?  You want to see one?  I thought you’d never ask…

It was a cold winter day when I met Miss M and her fabulous mom at a nearby college campus to shoot some senior portraits.  Miss M is one of those seniors who is ready for college.  She’s smart, mature and good natured.  She’s also a lot of fun!  We had such a great time hiking around the campus…luckily it was pretty quiet.  Here are a few of the resulting shots:

I tried a new action on a couple of the color shots…it worked with some, but not with others.  Overall, I think I prefer my old method, but am not ruling the new one out, either!
